Shadow People - Sarah Davey

The body inherently performs as a filter to subconsciously reveal and conceal as we slip through time. The inspiration behind this work is an unfiltered psychological inner vision depicting aspects of a person that typically lie unseen. Each sculpture derives from an intuitive language of personal mythology to recreate an alternate reality of character studies. Constructing these figures in a naturalistic style becomes an entry point for me to access the real through the unreal and the invisibility of the psyche. These strange characters confront the viewer by catching one’s gaze or looking just beyond, waiting for an otherness to puncture their reality.
