Verdancy

Our first exhibition in the Fiddlehead Room, Verdancy,  opened on July 31st.

This solo exhibition of works by Vic Barquin demonstrates the close relationship between care and risk that is present in her printmaking and collage practice. Using editioned images, she creates unique pieces that originate from duplicates. Her commitment to collage started during the pandemic as a way to limit material expenses and reassess the value of her own work. The simplicity of this new series operates as a distillation of past prints, offering a sense of clarity through isolated gesture. Like corn stalks and sugar cubes, the work references both the organic and the man made. The combination of lush greens and jewel toned blues remind us of a rural summer while the halftone dots and laptop screenshots hint at an amateur digital intervention.
