The Silver Fern invites ceramic and 2D artists to submit a series of works for our second STEEPED exhibition in the Fiddlehead Gallery. Just like last year, STEEPED Vol.2  is centered around the mug, but this year also cozy, safe spaces. 

Alongside mugs, we are welcoming submissions of 2D art exploring the everyday ritual of enjoying tea or coffee from a mug, and/or highlights themes of slowness, rest, coziness, safety, and quiet connection.

Mugs are thought of as simple everyday objects by most, but can be rich with meaning and nostalgia. They can act as little functional sculptures that are rarely used and only displayed. Often, a mug is used first thing in the morning during quiet times of contemplation or during an intimate meeting between loved ones in a coffee shop or alongside strangers where creating connections and community blossoms.

Important Dates:

August 5th – Applications Open

September 26th – All Submissions are due

October 3rd – Artists are notified

November 6th – Deadline to receive artwork at the Gallery

November 13th – Exhibition opening day & Opening Reception from 5–8 PM during Cookeville's local annual craft fair, Art Prowl (more info here: https://www.artroundtennessee.org/artprowl)

December 23rd – Exhibition closes. Due to the holiday season, work that sold will be allowed to be picked up anytime between Dec 16th-23rd

Dec 28th – Unsold work is picked up or shipped back (with the option to discuss continuing on consignment in our retail gallery)
